Rocky Mountain wildlife: Coyote (Canis latrans) on elk carcass, Wyoming, USA. This elk was likely killed by wolves during the night as wolves were bedded down a few hundred yards away the previous afternoon.

Looking both ways. Northern river otter (Lontra canadensis), Wyoming, USA
Looking both ways. Northern river otter (Lontra canadensis), Wyoming, USA. It is great to see and photograph otters, but most of the images end up just "standard". You need to be alert and try and capture interesting or unusual moments; they are gone before you know it. Here, the symmetry of the body position of the two otters works almost like a mirror. But it is really two otters looking in opposite directions.
