Moose (Alces alces)

We encountered this moose cow and her calf at the edge of a frozen and snow covered lake, just before dark. The snow made for a clean background without distractions. A high ISO setting made these images possible, but I kept the shutter speed low enough to allow for movement of the legs, emphasizing the snow depth and the though goings in winter.
