The overpass is designed for farmers, agricultural machinery, hunters and wildlife including roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) and European hare (Lepus europaeus).

Road ecology blog: Divided culverts under road between Hanbogd and Oyu Tolgoi, Gobi, near Hanbogd, Ömnögovi, Mongolia. This structure appears good enough for water to pass through, should it rain in this desert. However, it also shows how divided culverts only allow for a narrow view for wildlife that may be interested in using the culvert to cross to the other side of the road. Having one opening, without dividers is considered more inviting to wildlife, and it also becomes less likely the culvert will become plugged, e.g. through tree branches or other debris.
