Asian wildlife: Argali rams (Ovis ammon), Ikh Nart Nature Reserve, Dornogovi, Mongolia
Asian wildlife: Argali rams (Ovis ammon), Ikh Nart Nature Reserve, Dornogovi, Mongolia. Near threatened (IUCN, 2013). Argali are the largest species of wild sheep. We were fortunate to spend three days at the research station from the Denver Zoological Foundation in Ikh Nart. The researchers have been incredibly productive. Travel: Deep snow and sketchy conditions on roads, near Bayan-Adarga, Khentii, Mongolia
Tough traveling after a storm wept across the grasslands and made snow dunes. Some 250 km on two tracks through the grasslands until we hit a paved road... which does not see a snow plow either... Fortunately we did not get stuck and we kept the van upright...
