Rocky Mountain wildflowers: Field with blue camas (Camassia quamash) Packer Meadows, Idaho, USA.

As the sun was setting it lit up the edge of the meadow. The edge and the trees made for an interesting repeating pattern; the two horizontal lines between the meadow and the row of shrubs, the row of shrubs and the trees, and the vertical lines of the coniferous trees themselves.

I put my camera on a 6 m long pole to get a different perspective on the camas. From the ground it may seems as if the field is just filled with flowers. However, with a higher viewpoint the patchy patterns of the camas become clear. Subtle differences in hydrology are likely causing these patchy patterns.
