The images typically relate to landscapes and wildlife, but I also blog about photos of highways and mitigation measures for wildlife or road ecology in general. The South: Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) in early morning fog, Lake Martin, Louisiana, USA.
I was in southern Louisiana recently and had time for an early morning photo shoot. Cypress trees are extremely photogenic, but finding the right setting is key. Satellite images are a helpful tool and I decided that Lake Martin near Lafayette might be a good place. I was hoping for fog as that would make the trees stand out; the background simply disappears. I got very lucky!

Harvest in Montana: Bethanie Walder and Adam Liljeblad operate the chili roaster.
It has been a splendid pepper season.. we harvested about 40 pounds of peppers yesterday.
The hand-cranked metal drum is fueled by propane and roasts the peppers nice and evenly.
