Van on tricky road section covered in ice, Norway. We drove up this road section without stopping first. If we would have inspected the situation we would have seen that the ice covered section was actually quite dangerous. It was out-sloped, there were strong winds blowing off the mountain, and should the van have slid off the road, it would have tumbled all the way down the mountain to the valley bottom. On our way back down the van started to slide... we stopped, attached the snow chains and worked for on hour or so to put gravel on the ice. A good portion of the gravel simply blew away in the wind, but all in all we got through this road section with a good reminder to always stop and check before driving into a situation. That is the best way to stay out of trouble...
