Montana birds: Bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) takes off with white-tailed deer fawn (Odocoileus virginianus), Montana, USA. I saw the eagle sitting in the tall grass, head sticking out. Normally, bald eagles sit in snags along the river, so I suspected something was going on. Then I saw it getting ready for take off based on body posture... I just had enough time to set my camera to high speed continuous shooting before the eagle took off.... phew!
