Montana birds: Greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus), Montana, USA. This location is on a butte (a hill with a flat top). The sage grouse sometimes display right on the edge where the slope starts. Combined with an open aperture this allows for a beautiful blurry background of sage brush in the distance below. This helps direct our attention to the bird rather than sage brush branches and grasses that may be distracting.
